As I write this blog post, I am a little bit in disbelief that this is something that I am having to do. But, I am sitting here bored out of my mind, and I figured you are too.
I was supposed to be at SXSW this week, but now I am sitting at home trying to come up with blog post ideas that I can do from the comfort of my home. If you are also staying home and trying to stay contained because of the outbreak even though you are young and would probably be okay but don’t want to contribute to the spread, awesome! Me too.
Whether you are out of school, doing online classes or working from home, here are some things you can do to pass the time while you are bored.
Watch Frozen II starting Sunday
If you have Disney+, Frozen II will be streaming in the U.S. starting on Sunday. I am so excited about this because I loved the first one, and life got really busy, and I didn’t see it in theaters.
Also, I watch a lot of TikTok, and I felt extremely left out when it was a trend. (Follow me on TikTok at @repressingthecrazy)
Try to make art with the things in your home
I know not everyone has a craft room/craft dresser, but I am sure you have something. If you are with other people, see who can make the most creative thing with what is in your house.
Check out my DIY page for some inspo.
Winner can get a toilet paper roll or something.
Do lawn maintenance
It is starting to get warm outside, and you were probably going to reserve a weekend for lawn care anyway.
Go ahead and go outside – and get started! I know my yard needs some raking and some mowing. I know some people hate doing chores while bored, but it is so productive!
Paint a wall in your home
Maybe not paint a wall, but I am sure there is some project in your home that is half-finished.
Go ahead and tackle that baby! I know I am planning to scrape some wallpaper off at some point this week.
Organize and get rid of some junk
So it’s kinda good timing that we are all locked in our homes during the spring to get some spring cleaning done.
Try tackling a room or closet in your house and get it super organized. While you are organizing, reaccess if you really need some of your stuff and scale back.
Learn a new card game
Most everyone has a pack of cards at home, so it might be time to try your hand at a new game.
Here is a list of card games that you might not now. And if you are really bored, you can have a tournament.
Make a new dinner invention
This activity is great if you weren’t able to make it to the grocery store and EVERYTHING is gone. I am sure you have some pasta that has been lying around for a while or some beans that are near expiration.
Try to make something completely out of the norm with what you have!
Bathe your pet
This might just be a me thing, but I hate bathing my dog! It might be because they are Australian Shepherds with double coats, but it is so frustrating.
This is definitely a time for me to stop being lazy and get my babies clean.
Have a spa day
I am sure you have a ton of self-care items that you bought and only used once. Grab those puppies and make a day!
If you really want to elevate your experience, do it my way. I get the house super clean, so I won’t worry about a dirty home while I am relaxing. Then I make my favorite drink (either wine, tea or coffee), and start by lighting candles throughout the house.
Then, I put on one of my masks that I can leave on for a long period of time. And I also do a really good purple mask to get my hairs all nice and frosty. I do it all – exfoliate my whole body, self-tan, do my nails, dye my brows.
Try some yoga on Youtube
This is extremely helpful if you are also anxious during this time and can’t go to the gym. There are so many tutorials on youtube, so find one that fits your needs.
